Trust me, I know it's hard. But the struggle you're walking through is worth it. God could have chosen to give us easy lives. But it is because we face trials and hardships that we turn to him. He loves us, and he wants to be a part of our lives. You'll need thick skin and a faithful heart. Emotional trauma and broken relationships are, unfortunately, a part of everyone's life. Only God can offer us eternal love.
This may sound heavy, but Every Little Thing is my life's work. My story is a compilation of writings and memories that I recorded throughout my life. Inspired by Ann Frank, I wanted to leave behind a legacy that couldn't be summed up by just the things I'd done. And I have a good reason to want to tell this story. I am in the early stages of genetic, young-onset Alzheimer's. And knowing that my life will end this way, too soon yet too long at the same time, emotional trauma and broken relationships come with the package.
Of course, there's more to life than hardship and suffering, and often the challenges come from the same people who bring you joy and affection. When I learned that my daughter has autism spectrum disorder, I knew there would be difficult things to come. But her unique thinking and loving heart shine, not in spite of autism, but because of it. In fact, I think that experiencing pain and rejection helped me love better. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
